These Terms of Use govern your use of the PelotonIQ platform. By using the service, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
By accessing or using PelotonIQ ('the Service'), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
PelotonIQ is an AI-powered cycling coaching platform that connects to your Strava account, analyses your training data, and generates evidence-based coaching advice, training plans, and performance predictions. The Service is currently in closed beta and is intended for recreational and competitive cyclists aged 18 and over.
PelotonIQ uses the official Strava API to access your activity data. By connecting your Strava account you authorise PelotonIQ to read your activity history, profile name, and profile photo. PelotonIQ is not affiliated with or endorsed by Strava, Inc. Strava® is a registered trademark of Strava Inc. You may revoke this authorisation at any time via Strava Settings → My Apps.
PelotonIQ provides training and performance coaching information for general informational purposes only. Nothing on the Service constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified physician or sports medicine professional before making significant changes to your training load, particularly if you have an existing health condition.
Coaching responses, training plans, and performance predictions are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors or omissions. While we ground all responses in peer-reviewed research, AI outputs are not infallible. Always apply your own judgement and verify recommendations with a qualified coach where appropriate.
You are responsible for ensuring that any training you undertake is appropriate for your current health and fitness level. You must not use the Service if you have been advised by a medical professional to avoid strenuous exercise. You agree not to misuse the Service or attempt to reverse-engineer any part of it.
All content on PelotonIQ — including the coaching engine, knowledge base, user interface, and branding — is the intellectual property of PelotonIQ. The peer-reviewed research papers indexed in the knowledge base remain the property of their respective authors and publishers; PelotonIQ uses excerpts solely for informational coaching purposes.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PelotonIQ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including injury sustained during training activities undertaken in reliance on AI-generated coaching advice.
These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the Republic of Bulgaria. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This Privacy Policy explains how PelotonIQ collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We take your privacy seriously.
We collect the following data when you use PelotonIQ: (a) Strava profile information (name, profile photo, Strava athlete ID) used solely for authentication and account display — never forwarded to our AI engine; (b) cycling activity data retrieved via the Strava API (power, heart rate, cadence, speed, elevation, duration); (c) athlete profile data you enter manually (FTP, body weight, city, bike information); (d) training plans and coaching conversations generated during your use of the Service.
Your data is used exclusively to deliver the coaching features of PelotonIQ: computing training-load metrics (CTL/ATL/TSB/TSS), generating training plans, producing AI-powered coaching responses, and predicting event performance. We do not use your data to train AI models, serve advertisements, or profile you for any purpose beyond the Service.
PelotonIQ's coaching engine analyses anonymised performance metrics only. Before any data is passed to the AI, our platform automatically removes: your name, email, and Strava ID; activity titles and free-text descriptions (which may contain location names or people's names); GPS coordinates, route polylines, and device identifiers. The AI receives only aggregated training numbers such as FTP, CTL, ATL, TSB, zone distribution in hours, and TSS totals — nothing that could identify you. This stripping happens in our codebase before data leaves our servers, not at the AI provider's end.
PelotonIQ uses the following third-party services to operate: Strava API (source of activity data — governed by Strava's API Agreement); an AI language model for generating coaching responses (receives anonymised training metrics only — see section 3); Voyage AI (semantic search embeddings for our knowledge base — no personal data); Neon/PostgreSQL (database hosting, EU region, encrypted at rest); Fly.io (application hosting, EU region); Brevo (transactional email — receives your email address and first name only); Umami Analytics (privacy-first, cookie-free, no personal data). We share only the minimum data necessary with each provider. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted in the European Union. Strava OAuth tokens are stored encrypted. All connections use TLS 1.2 or higher. Sessions are protected with signed, server-side cookies. We follow least-privilege principles — access to raw athlete data is restricted. No system is 100% secure; use the Service accordingly.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data — activity records, profile, training plans, and OAuth tokens — will be permanently deleted within 5 business days. Anonymised, non-identifiable aggregate statistics may be retained for service improvement.
If you are based in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, export, and erase your personal data, and to restrict or object to certain processing. To exercise any right, email admin@pelotoniq.app. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.
PelotonIQ uses a single session cookie ('pelotoniq_session') to keep you logged in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function and contains no personally identifiable information. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.
For privacy questions, data requests, or complaints contact us at admin@pelotoniq.app. We aim to respond within 5 business days. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority (e.g. CNIL in France, ICO in the UK, CPDP in Bulgaria).
