Connect Strava

One-click OAuth. PelotonIQ reads your full activity history — power, heart rate, speed — and computes your training load baseline from day one.

02

Data Analysis

CTL, ATL, TSB, NP, IF and TSS computed per the Coggan 7-zone model. FTP is estimated from your power curve — no manual entry required.

03

AI Coaching

Ask the coach anything. Every answer is anchored to indexed peer-reviewed literature. Tap “Why?” to see the specific paper that informed the advice.

04

Evidence Citations

Every recommendation includes a cosine-similarity-ranked citation from the Living Science panel — 100+ indexed papers across 11 sports science topic areas.

PelotonIQ started as a frustration: as an amateur cyclist, I wanted the kind of evidence-based coaching that WorldTour teams take for granted. It’s still a one-person project, built around the conviction that access to sports science shouldn’t be gated by a €300/month coaching fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

PelotonIQ reads your activity history via the official Strava API: power output, heart rate, cadence, speed, elevation, and duration. We do not access your personal messages, followers, or financial data. You can revoke access at any time from your Strava settings under My Apps.
Your plan is generated using your current fitness metrics — CTL (chronic training load), ATL (acute load), TSB (freshness), and FTP. The system calculates a weekly TSS budget based on your training phase and builds a periodised block using polarised or sweet-spot principles drawn from peer-reviewed research. No two plans are the same.
These are standard power-based training load metrics. CTL (Chronic Training Load) is your 42-day fitness baseline — how fit you are. ATL (Acute Training Load) is your 7-day fatigue — how tired you are right now. TSB (Training Stress Balance) is freshness: CTL minus ATL. A positive TSB means you're fresh; a negative TSB means you're carrying fatigue. All three are computed from your Strava activity power data using the Coggan model.
Every coaching response from PelotonIQ is backed by peer-reviewed research. The Living Science panel is a collapsible 'Why?' section below each AI response that shows which specific papers were retrieved and used to inform the advice — including the paper title, authors, year, and a relevance score. You can verify every recommendation at its source.
No. Your activity data is used solely to generate your coaching advice. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train AI models. Your Strava token is stored encrypted and used only to fetch your own activities.
Responses are grounded in your real fitness data and indexed sports science research, which makes them significantly more relevant than generic AI advice. That said, AI-generated coaching has limitations — it cannot account for illness, injury, sleep quality, or life stress unless you mention them. Always apply your own judgement, and consult a qualified coach or physician for medical concerns.
Most features require power data. CTL, ATL, TSB, TSS, NP, IF, and zone distribution are all power-based metrics. Without a power meter or smart trainer, these cannot be computed. Heart-rate-only activities are currently not supported for metric calculation, though general coaching questions still work.
Go to Profile (top navigation) and update your FTP in the Athlete Profile section. All metrics — TSS, IF, zone distribution — are immediately recalculated using the new value the next time you sync activities.
PelotonIQ is purpose-built for cycling. The metrics, zone models, periodisation principles, and knowledge base are all cycling-specific. Running and swimming activities synced from Strava are currently ignored by the analysis engine.
Email admin@pelotoniq.app with the subject 'Delete my account'. We will remove all your data — athlete profile, activity records, training plans, and Strava tokens — within 5 business days and confirm by email. You can also revoke Strava access independently via Strava → Settings → My Apps.
